How might education be reimagined around the future survival of the planet?

Shared by COMMON WORLDS RESEARCH COLLECTIVE

In the face of the multiple existential threats we have brought upon ourselves, members of the Common Worlds Research Collective have co-fabulated seven visionary declarations of what education could look like in 2050 and beyond. These declarations are based on three premises:

1.     Human and planetary sustainability are one in the same thing.

2.     Any attempts to achieve futures that continue to separate humans off from the rest of the world are delusional and futile.

3.     Education needs to play a pivotal role in radically reconfiguring our place and agency within this interdependent world.

To learn more about these premises and the Collective’s speculative visions for future survival, check out the UNESCO’s Futures of Education background paper Learning to become with the world: Education for future survival.
